What happens when a lifetime of feminist activism meets the judiciary?
Join the Colorado Women’s Bar Association and the Colorado LGBTQ+ Bar Association for a reading with Jacqueline St. Joan, retired Denver County Judge, feminist activist, and 2025 Colorado Women’s Hall of Fame inductee.
Long before taking the bench, Jackie helped shape Denver’s feminist movement, co-founding Big Mama Rag, one of the country’s pioneering feminist newspapers. She went on to help reform Colorado’s domestic violence policies and establish a legal clinic focused on clemency for incarcerated women who killed their abusers.
In her memoir, Your Verdict: A Judge’s Reckoning With Law and Loss (Golden Antelope Press), Jackie reflects on the convictions she carried into the courtroom and the personal costs of challenging powerful institutions.
Join us for an evening of reading and reflection on women’s history, justice, and the courage to speak up.
